Identification of Noun

1) Noun can be used as a subject of a sentence.

*) Allocation of resources is the main theme of Economics.

2) Noun can be used as an object of a sentence.

*) I wanted to know the destination.

3) Noun can be used after Possessive pronoun.

*) I was amazed at your performance.

4) Noun can be used as an object of Gerund, Participle, Infinitive. Even Gerund can be used as a Noun in a sentence.

*) To tell the truth is hard.

*) Reading books is always amusing. [Here books are not a subject, reading books is a subject. That’s why “is” used as a verb]

*) Seeing a tiger, I turned pale.

*) Swimming is good for health.

5) If there is only one word after Preposition, Article, Adjective then it must be Noun.

*) Love came from heaven.

*) The rich are not always happy.

*) She observed a moving bus.

6) If there is a one word between “The” and “of” then it must be Noun.

*) The progress of the class is noticeable

7) [Subject+ Verb+ Article+ [Adverb+ Adjective] + Noun]

*) He is a(Article) boy(Noun).

*) He is a(Article) good(Adjective) boy(Noun).

*) He is a(Article) very(Adverb) Good(Adjective) boy(Noun).
